Research highlights: In-home senior care costs a national median of $35 per hour for a non-medical caregiver. That works out to about $6,673 a month for 44 hours of care per week, or $80,080 a year. Skilled nursing at home runs far more at $90 per hour. Round-the-clock care is the costliest option at roughly $24,700 to $25,500 per month. State by state, the median hourly table runs from about $25 in Mississippi to $44 in South Dakota. Medicare does not pay for long-term non-medical home care.
